A recently announced alliance between Tommy Baldwin Racing & Stewart-Haas Racing has secured a 26-race ride for Reutimann – one which he’ll be sharing with Sprint Cup rookie Danica Patrick. The goal of the deal was to lock Patrick into a qualifying position for the first 5 races of 2012.
Tommy Baldwin Racing’s David Blaney had accumulated the owner’s points Stewart-Haas was searching for in order to put them in the top 35 (33rd) where those 5 starts are secured. Additionally, TBR needed a ride for Reutimann, whom they picked up after he was released from Michael Waltrip Racing post-2011 season.
With the alliance, Danica will race 10 Sprint Cup races in the #10 car under the TBR owner points, including a guaranteed starting spot for the Daytona 500. Reutimann will pilot the #10 car for the remaining 26 races of the season.
Reutimann talks about the joys of getting another chance behind the wheel, the struggles of transition, and his thoughts on the coming season.
