The Florida Sports Talk live race broadcast at Citrus County Speedway two weeks ago didn’t exactly go as planned. Technical difficulties at the track forced us to go off air early on, but fortunately, it takes more than that to get the Racin’ Nation crew down! We managed to squeeze in part of my front stretch interviews during the autograph session before we shut down our operation for the night, and it was a blast.
Tori co-hosts the June episode of My Ocala TV with fellow host Daniel Link at Ocala’s own Silver Springs State Park. In this episode, the Mayor tries his hand at serving tables and making pizzas at a popular pizza joint, My Ocala TV tells the story of a Ocala high school sports play gone viral, and a local couple takes a Segway adventure.
In April, rising country music star Brett Eldredge performed in downtown Ocala for Ocala’s “Feel Downtown Live” series. Tori interviewed Brett beforehand for My Ocala TV’s story on the concert, and also caught up with his opening act, Central Florida’s own Michael Ray.
In May, Tori signed on as the co-host of a brand new community lifestyle TV show called My Ocala TV. She previously hosted the lifestyle show Style TV in Lake and Sumter County but is very excited to be transitioning to the new show that features local people, places, and events around her hometown, Ocala, Florida. As an ESPN Intern in the summer of 2012, Tori worked in production for MLB on ESPN, as well as with NASCAR, Euro Soccer, and the NBA Draft. This is a collection of edits she produced to air on ESPN broadcasts during her time as an intern.
Dreams of a Yankees minor league stadium in Ocala were all but crushed earlier this year when the team delivered a letter requesting suspension of the project over funding disputes between the city and county. With the cut-off date to agree on funding looming, Tori Petry has more on what went wrong & if there’s any hope for bringing pro sports to Ocala.

NASCAR Driver Ben Kennedy made waves last weekend in Daytona when he made the pole position for the Camping World Truck Series as a rookie. But you may not know that in addition to a full-time driver, Kennedy is also a normal college student. WUFT’s Tori Petry has more on this young talent.
Kennedy is finishing his degree with an internship in Connecticut this semester and is set to graduate in May.
